Frustrated with the poor quality of paint strippers found on the shelves of hardware stores, Paul approached a well known New Zealand brand for help, but found that it was extremely strong smelling and also extremely expensive. Not satisfied with the solutions available, Paul turned to a scientist for help and came up with a solution for his own use in his restoration business. The solution worked extremely well on all types of finishes, had a low odour which made it more pleasant to use, and wasn't expensive to manufacture so the savings could be passed on to the consumer.
After using the solution for 6 months and receiving feedback from others that had used it, Paul decided that it should be made available to the wider population and named the product Easy Strip.

The Wood Reviver and Wairarapa Wax Polish came a little later following demand for finishing products. Paul continues to run his restoration workshop and holds classes at The Manor, Masterton for anyone interested in learning a wide range of skills for a hobby or to profit from antiques. The Easy Strip products continue to gain market share and he now offers an In-Home service where the Easy Strip Team will come and remove paint and restore the timber in your own home.

Paul has also brought his knowledge of Double Glazing from the UK and combined that knowledge with his love of Character and Historic Homes. The Company now offers a Retro-Fit Double glazing Service, which means they can now fit new, sealed Double Glazed Units to your existing timber windows. This, combined with their imported draught seals, means that even the coldest, draughtiest home can benefit from their service without it affecting the character or appearance of the house.
To further expand the business, Paul is also introducing New Zealand to quality timber Conservatories in a traditional style, but with full double glazing, insulated walls and heated floors. They are designed to be an asset to the house and to add value. Unlike the typical "Lean-To" aluminium conservatories which are a bit like glorified greenhouses, these are designed to be used all year round in comfort.
The team now has 2 qualified joiners and an experienced builder. All their joinery is manufactured in-house and they are now capable of building extensions, decks and all interior joinery.
